Chuku’s is the world’s first Nigerian tapas restaurant. Founded by siblings Emeka and Ifeyinwa Frederick in 2016 as a pop-up and opened in bricks-and-mortar form in Tottenham in 2019, it’s a deliberate mashup: the shared-plate rhythm Emeka picked up living in Spain paired with a Nigerian menu rooted in their heritage.
The restaurant has served over 50,000 diners, landed in London’s Time Out Top 50, and received a BeyGOOD grant from Beyoncé’s foundation. One creator post covering the jollof, suya meatballs and plantain waffles cleared 500k reach.
Chuku’s partnered with Joli to turn the menu into a steady flow of creator content. From honey suya prawns to the Chapman Punch cocktail, each dish gives creators something new to talk about, and each post introduces Nigerian food to diners who haven’t tried it yet.
We’re a small team and it was so hard to manage the back-and-forth ourselves with influencers, but with Joli, it’s so much easier to manage, and it takes the pressure off asking people for content. The breadth of influencers on the platform is great, and it’s introduced us to so many new influencers. Joli relieves all the constant content pressure we had previously with social media!
